Terry Riley briefs reporters on the designs for a memorial at the Pentagon.
Terry Riley tells reporters about the six designs selected as finalists in the competition for a memorial to those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon during a Pentagon press briefing on Oct. 17, 2002. Over 1,100 architectural design proposals were submitted from all over the world. The memorial will be built on the western side of the Pentagon adjacent to the site of the aircraft impact. Riley, a panel member for the design competition, is the chief curator of design and architecture at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
