A U.S. Army doctor applies some antiseptic on a local Afghan's abdomen and gives him reassurance before performing out-patient surgery during a Medical Contingency Assistance Program held at the village of Sayad, Afghanistan, on Nov. 3, 2002. The doctors are providing free medical and dental care to some of the local villages in Afghanistan. They also provide literature on the dangers of unexploded ordnance and why the U.S. is here in their country.
