Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Victoria Clarke briefs reporters during an April 4, 2003, Pentagon press conference. Clarke told reporters about 28,000 tons of wheat being shipped from the Port of Galveston, Texas, on the ship Free Atlas to the people of Iraq. This amount of wheat will yield one pound of flour for each, man, woman and child in Iraq. Clarke and Army Maj. Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal updated reporters on Operation Iraqi Freedom, which is the multinational coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
