Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld escorts Vice President Dick Cheney into the Pentagon on April 8, 2003. Cheney will attend an operational update briefing on the progress of Operation Iraqi Freedom with Rumsfeld, representatives of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other senior Department of Defense officials. Operation Iraqi Freedom is the multinational coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
