Col. Gregory N. Tubbs, U.S. Army, shows reporters a small, man-portable, remotely controlled, reconnaissance aircraft known as the Tactical Mini Air Vehicle or TACMAV during a Pentagon news briefing on Aug. 12, 2005. The rugged little plane carries two cameras and can be folded to fit into an easily carried tube. Tactical infantry units can use the plane to provide views of terrain over the next hill or of the streets of a town. Tubbs is the director of the Rapid Equipping Force, a unit whose mission involves rushing useful technologies to the war-fighters in the field.
