Army National Guard Director Lt. Gen. Clyde Vaughn (center) briefs reporters on plans to fully fund the Army National Guard to provide its units with the same manpower, equipment, and training as regular Army units during a Pentagon press briefing in Arlington, Va., on Feb. 2, 2006. The program recognizes the importance of the National Guard and Reserve components in fighting the Global War on Terrorism and seeks to give them equal status with regular Army units in terms of equipment and capability.
