Orient Queen cruise ship assists Americans leaving Lebanon
Capt. Christoph Felsenstein of the cruise ship Orient Queen pilots his ship into the port of Beirut, Lebanon, to pick up more than 1,000 American citizens and bring them to safety in Cyprus on July 20, 2006. The ship, under contract with the U.S. government, is part of the larger U.S. military mission to assist U.S. citizens in their departure from Lebanon. At the request of the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon and at the direction of the Secretary of Defense, the United States Central Command and elements of Task Force 59 are assisting with the departure of U.S. citizens from Lebanon.
