Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns speaks at the opening of a showcase of biobased products in the Pentagon on Sept. 12, 2006. Johanns has been a proponent of agriculture-derived industrial products. Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England hosted the showcase and invited Johanns and several legislative leaders from both houses of congress to attend the exhibit opening and offer their perspectives on biobased products. Thirty-seven American companies are participating in the showcase and educational event exhibiting products ranging from lubricants and fuels to paint, insulation materials, clothing, and industrial cleaners and degreasers.
