Director of Defense Procurement and Acquisitions Policy Shay Assad tells reporters that the bidding had reopened on the contract to build the U.S. Air Force's next-generation aerial tanker during a Pentagon press briefing on Aug. 6, 2008. Assad said that the new draft Request for Proposals was submitted today to Congress and both of the competing companies. The contract is expected to be worth approximately $35 billion.
