U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Fred Spears secures the satellite communication radom to an MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, on Nov. 22, 2008. A coalition force of experts from the U.S. Air Force and Royal Air Force deployed to man a new Reaper aircraft maintenance unit. The unit is attached to the 46th Expeditionary Reconnaissance and Attack Squadron and assumed maintenance duties from General Atomics, which produces the Reaper for these services. Spears is a Reaper avionics specialist assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.
