U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Sean Simmonds with Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment provides security during a patrol in Helmand province, Afghanistan, on July 27, 2009. Fox Company Marines are conducting patrols outside Patrol Base Hasan Abad to restrict the Taliban's freedom of movement. The Marines are deployed to support NATO's International Security Assistance Force and will participate in counter insurgency operations. They will train and mentor Afghan National Security Forces to improve security and stability in the country.
