An Afghan boy is treated by a U.S. Navy hospital corpsman with Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment at Patrol Base Jaker in the Nawa district of Helmand province, Afghanistan, on Aug. 11, 2009. The boy's father brought him to the base saying that his son had fallen into a nearby canal. The Marines are deployed with Regimental Combat Team 3 to conduct counter insurgency operations in partnership with Afghan National Security Forces in southern Afghanistan.
