U.S. Army soldiers jump out of a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft.
U.S. Army soldiers from Fort Bragg, N.C., jump out of a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft from the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown, Ohio, during the 12th annual Randy Oler Memorial Toy Drop at Fort Bragg, N.C., on Dec. 6, 2009. Also known as Operation Toy Drop, the event is hosted by the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) and supported by Fort Bragg's XVIII Airborne Corps and Pope Air Force Base's 43rd Airlift Wing. Organizers estimate that more than 3,000 soldiers will donate a toy for a lottery ticket and the chance to jump under an international jumpmaster in order to earn their foreign jump wings. The operation gives soldiers and airmen the opportunity to help local families in need over the holidays while boosting moral and incorporating valuable training. Since its inception, Operation Toy Drop has collected and distributed more than 30,000 toys for families of soldiers and orphanages in the local community.
