President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx Trade Networks, Inc. Mr. James Muhs, Sr., gets a front row view of flight deck operations on an Air Force C-17 Globemaster III large military transport aircraft during the first leg of the week long Secretary of Defense Senior Leader Engagement Program. Muhs and nearly two dozen civilian professionals from across the United States started their journey in Washington, D.C. SLEP is an outgrowth of the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference, the oldest public liaison program in the DoD. Participants are guests of the Secretary of Defense and attend briefings by senior military and civilian officials at the Pentagon. The mission of the Senior Leader Engagement Program is to increase public understanding of national defense by enabling American business and community leaders to directly observe and engage with the U.S. military.
