Preparing for Hoist Training
Army National Guard soldiers, fire department and emergency medical services rescuers from the South Carolina Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team, and the South Carolina Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1, prepare their equipment before participating in hoist training during Patriot South Exercise 2017, at the Gulfport and Port Bienville Industrial Complex, Mississippi, Jan. 31, 2017. The soldiers are assigned to the South Carolina Army National Guard’s Headquarters Company, Company A, 2nd Battalion, 151st Security and Support Aviation Battalion, and 59th Aviation Troop Command. The joint training focuses on natural disaster response, preparedness and an opportunity to test response capabilities, procedures, and readiness through a simulated earthquake and tsunami scenario hitting the coastal areas of the state.
