The soldiers and airmen are assigned to the New York National Guard’s 24th Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team. The air crew is assigned to the New York National Guard’s 3rd Battalion, 142nd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade. The training brought together the resources of several fire departments, the 106th Air Rescue Wing, and the Department of Homeland Security to respond to a simulated containment breach at the research facility.
