Open Press Events Today in the Department of Defense, September 25, 2018

Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis is traveling. His remarks at 11 a.m. EDT at the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia, are open to the press, and will be posted to the VMI website after the event.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Patrick M. Shanahan and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr. have no public or media events on their schedules.

A Senate Armed Services Committee hearing at 9:30 a.m. EDT will consider the nominations of Army Gen. Robert B. Abrams for reappointment to the grade of general, and to be commander, United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, and U.S. Forces Korea; and Navy Vice Adm. Craig S. Faller to be admiral, and commander, U.S. Southern Command, at Room SD-G50, Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, District of Columbia.
