In this special report, the Defense Department marks the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, one of the most devastating storms in U.S. history. More than 60,000 troops and DoD civilians provided disaster assistance to New Orleans and Gulf Coast residents in Katrina's immediate aftermath, and have worked to help communities recover in the decade since.
